Mark's Ski Course - Alltracks Academy Review

My thoughts on Alltracks Academy

On the whole the Alltracks course was pretty good, the accomadation was good, though it's a little dubious to say that it's all walking distance to the village, it is walkable but not something I would like to do in ski boots and carrying ski's. All the instructors we had were pretty good, some better than others, though I think that is more a case of different people liking different things, snow conditions and level of energy at any particular time.

The meals provided on the course were pretty good, always plenty of it and of reasonable quality, the only minor issue with the food was the fact that for 95% of the time we were there we were served mashed potato, a little more variety would have been nice.

Were I think Alltracks let themselves down was with the in resort support, we very rarely saw any Alltracks staff, not once did they come and ski with any of the groups. On their website it was implied that the options (freestlye or race coach qualifications) were included and arranged, it turned out they were not included nor were they arranged and the communication about them was very poor, I had to push very hard just to find out that the race coach course was not being run.

A big improvement that Alltracks could make would be a little more upfront clarity and making some things optional, for instance doing the back country tour, it was included in the price whether you wanted to do it or not, it would require more upfront adminstration and the pricing may be affected by reduced numbers, but when all said and done the course should be run for the benefit of the clients and the fact that Alltracks staff get the benefits should be secondary.
